If you were watching the Brit Awards ceremony last night, then you’ll no doubt know exactly why the phrase ”Cutting Adele” was trending worldwide on Twitter within minutes of the show finishing. Freshly back on home soil after an amazing haul of 6 awards at the Grammy’s last week, pop star Adele was delighted to continue her success by winning 2 Brit Awards.
However, what was tipped to be a wonderful night of celebration for Adele didn’t go entirely to plan. When the singer went up to collect the last award of the night for Best Album, she barely got a few words of her thank you speech out before she was rudely cut off in mid flow. Producers had made the decision to cut Adele off so that the Outstanding Contribution award winners Blur could take the stage.
Disgruntled fans took to Twitter in their droves to voice their displeasure at Adele’s treatment, and even host James Corden admitted feeling terrible at having to be the one to silence the star. Such a shame that Adele’s big night didn’t quite go to plan but apart from that one wee blip, the award ceremony went really rather well. Other big winners on the night included Ed Sheeran, Coldplay and Rihanna.
