It was reported today that Sheffield Wednesday Football Club may be taken over by a local supporters group. Allegedly over 2 million pounds has been pledged to the football club by the supporters group called ‘Wednesday till I die.’ A Local Businessman, Garry Scotting, has pledged £500,000 saying “The club is on the brink and that the fans must stand together to ensure the clubs future.”
The football club has reportedly been given 28 days by a high court to find new owners. The Sheffield Wednesday Chairman, Mr Howard Wilkinson, has allegedly welcomed the investment that Scotting has pledged. Fans are reportedly being asked to pledge funds greater than £100 and have been told they will have a real voice in the running of the club.
A spokesman said “The Fund will be called ‘One Wednesday’ and will be ready in 2 weeks.”
