Fans of the hit ITV drama series Downton Abbey will be excited to hear that the all important wedding scenes for the upcoming third series are being shot on location as we speak. Having finally overcome all the obstacles facing them, star crossed lovers Mary and Matthew were last seen getting engaged at the end of the Christmas special.
The scenes are being filmed on location at St Mary’s Church in the picturesque village of Bampton, Oxfordshire which has leant itself wonderfully to the vintage style of the occasion. Images from the set show the streets lined with festive bunting and the principal cast and extras all gussied up in fine period costumes.
The one outfit that everyone of course is clamouring to see, Lady Mary’s wedding dress, has been kept firmly under wraps. The actress Michelle Dockery’s arrival on set by horse and carriage was screened off from onlookers to maintain the surprise for when series three is screened later this year.
The images I’ve seen of the other cast members in their period finery certainly suggest we’re going to be in for a visual treat when the wedding dress in finally unveiled!
