Are you ready for Fancy Dress Saturday at Bestival

Darling Sailor CostumeBestival is a music festival held every year on the Isle of Wight from September 5th to the 8th. The event is organised by DJ Rob da Bank and has been held in the Robin Hill country park since 2004. Initially attracting around 10,000 people the festival has now grown and has, over the years, been voted the Fans Favourite Festival and has won the best major festival awards.

Bestival is especially well known for its fancy dress day that is usually held on the Saturday during the 4 day music event and in 2010 they achieved a Guinness world Record for the most people in fancy dress in one event with a huge amount of 55,000 people taking part.

Rob da Bank was quoted as saying “I don’t know what it is about the British. Fancy dress and getting dressed up in eccentric, ridiculous and just plain stylish regalia seem to go hand in hand with our seldom-seen show-off nature … and nowhere is that more evident than at our beloved Bestival.”

So if you are going to this year’s Bestival take Rob’s advice and be eccentric and ridiculous and see what amazing fancy dress you can come up with. There is usually a theme for the fancy dress day and in the past has seen thousands of pirates, cowboys and indians joining in the fun aswell as outer space and wildlife themes.

And the theme for 2013? HMS Bestival – all aboard!

So think sailors and ships captains, mermaids and sea monsters – and, as organiser Rob, says “Anything Nautical but nice!” And with a range of Cheap Fancy Dress Costumes available you will easily be able to create something fantastic for this fabulous day.

Girls can dress up as saucy sailor girls and mesmerising mermaids. And for the men how about a dashing deckhand or a scary sea monster?
