Matt Smith, better known to telly fans as Doctor Who, scooped the prestigious Male Drama Performance award at the 2012 National Television Awards on Wednesday. Smith beat out stiff competition from the likes of David Threlfall (Shameless) and John Barrowman (Torchwood) to snag the gong. On receiving his award the actor stated that it was a great privilege to win and thanked Dr Who fans for their loyal support.
